Happy Valentine's Day!

I received an early Valentine's Day present yesterday evening. My husband K surprised me with these and a beautiful card!

There is a sentimental story behind these flowers. K loves to give me long stemmed roses but one Valentines Day several years ago while at work, I received a bouquet like these of mini pink roses. The card, personal, brought tears to my eyes. K told me the reason for the rose plant is that he wanted me to have a rose for every single day and he knew that these would grow fresh blooms continually. I cannot tell you how touched I was. I watered and cared for the tiny bush for about a year before I transplanted it and put it outside. It is now a HUGE bush with hundreds of roses and gorgeous. Last year, he provided me with a similar bouquet of yellow mini roses. I was tickled and immediately repotted them and put them outside. (We were living in CA at the time). The sad part is that when we moved we did not have room for all our potted plants (they were in huge ornamental clay containers) in the moving van so we sadly and reluctantly left them behind. We were both very unhappy about it. The new homeowners were happy to say the least. You can understand why I was so thrilled when I received these, our first plant for our new home! I hope they will grow as large here as they did in CA where they grow year-round.

I think your husband's gift was beautiful. Instead of taking away life in the name of romance, he gave you a living, breathing memento of his affection.
