Starbuck's Reading

I recently sketched "Sarah" while at my local Starbuck's during lunch. It was a quick 5 minute sketch and upon leaving I introduced myself, showed her the illustration, and asked her if she would mind If I posted a picture of her online. She didn't seem to mind though I am sure she is wondering just what is to become of it.
Well, here you are Sarah, and I hope I haven't done you too much of a grave injustice. As I said, it was just a quick sketch and I liked the pose you were in and your bright red sweatshirt. It put me in the holiday mood. Thank you and I hope you enjoy the sketch.

HI Maggie, I am also a latte lover and love sketching at Starbucks--people always seem so interesting there. I did a sketch at the grocery store last week and post it. People get into such interesting poses or they dress for them :) How can we help but sketch them.
I always carry my sketchbook too. Never know when one of those interesting people will walk by or sit near you.
Really nice job on this sketch! Never know it was a quick one.
Hey Maggie! I've enjoyed catching up on your blog this week. I like your running cafe sketching theme you have going.
It has been pretty hard with this move due to the fact that there isn't a good bookstore in our local area-- withdrawals! But I do have a starbucks in my grocery store so that is helping me with the grieving process. haha!
Hugs~ Roz
You captured Sarah's look of concentration very well Maggie! This is a great quick sketch. :o)
You're so good at these quick sketches! Maybe coffee is a secret potion - I'm going to have to try it!
Thank you all for your words of encouragement. I think of it as my live drawing class, being held at Starbuck's!
I love to watch people too at starbucks as they pour over their books with their frothy drinks. It is a culture of it's own in there. Plus everything smells so good too. I love the sketch. You are quite good at this. Well done.
Very delicate and nice sketch.

Did you let her know the address of your blog? I've debated about whether or not I should "notify" the people I sketch that I am posting their images, but in the end have decided not to. I did make up "business cards" for myself with the web adress of the blog to give out to curious people who want to look at the sketch or ask me about it. I rarely pass them along though, only twice so far.
This is great - and in five minutes!? I am trying to get faster with my sketches, but I am not there yet.
This is great. You captured her gestures so wonderfully. I especially like how relaxed her hand looks. Great job, Maggie!
Cully,
I actually did give her my business card with my website on it. I don't always give out my card, except to those I think might enjoy seeing what I have sketched and visiting my site.
Lovely drawing!
really nice (especially for 5 minutes! ), great capture of her pose, hands, expression, folds in clothing
Hi Maggie, I too like the coffee scene and have done some sketching there as well. This is a very nice sketch, especially for five minutes. I agree with the others who have commented on who well you captured the relaxation there.
Hi Maggie... those are really great fingers, holding the pen. a really nice drawing
Cool sketch.
I know this might be a little out of left field, but...
I am a marketer for www.stompinggrounds.com, in Portland, Oregon. I came across your site as I was searching the 'net for coffee lover sites.
Stomping Grounds is concentrated espresso. It was created by the guy who launched Chai Tea in the U.S. -- Oregon Chai, specifically.
If you -- or any of your friends here in this weblog -- are interested in trying the product, we'd be happy to send you a box of your preferred flavor.
All they have to do is email us at sip@stompinggrounds.com and include their snail mail address. Stomping Grounds is just getting started and we are trying to share the experience of this new product with our fellow coffee lovers.
Thanks
