While traveling this past week, I spent some time in airports. What to do but read or sketch? I chose the latter and sketched my meal. Yes, I did take my Starbuck's into Chili's and the waitress said "not a problem". I hadn't had one in 5 days and was not about to part with it before dinner. I had the Grilled Caribbean Salad with marinated Caribbean chicken and honey-lime dressing. It wasn't bad for airport food.

The fact that I am so far behind in my illustration goals for the month leaves much to be desired but I do have a food illustration that I will post in the next few days. I had plenty of time to sketch while waiting in airports this past week.

Yesterday afternoon my great aunt Elvier passed away. She was 92 and had been fighting cancer off and on for past several years. She was a great source of influence in my life and we had a close family bond. We shared our faith and love of God and she was always very supportive of me throughout my life. She was such a beautiful lady and I will miss her dearly.

I'll be flying home on Wednesday for the services and funeral and won't be back until late Saturday. All posts and illustrations planned will be put off until my return.

I am fascinated with ancient history, ruins, statues and structures. There is a wealth of richness historically yet to be uncovered. The Great Temple of Abu Simbel.

Yeah for me! Today is the 1 year anniversary of when I started this blog! I got off to a slow start but seemed to have gathered steam over the year with October and November being the largest months of postings and visits.

I am sincerly thankful to all of you who have supported me and my work over the past year and for the relationships I have developed through our mutual interests. I am looking forward to another great year and continued growth in my work and field of illustration and design, and I wish you well in all your endeavors.
