Worthy Cause

Each year it is my responsibility to run the United Way campaign for our corporate East office. This year our committee decided upon several fund raising events, one of them called Casual Fun Week. Each day of the week had a different theme and you paid to dress the part. On the Friday, we had Favorite Sports Team Day and here is a photo of my good friend and colleague Cheri and I as we posed for pictures. On the left, I am wearing my son's travel hockey jersey when he played for the Sarnia Sting team. For my last birthday, I asked him for one of his jerseys, the best present he could have given me. Cheri is wearing her favorite Pittsburg Steelers team jersey. We painted logos on our cheeks though they didn't show up in the picture. We raised a lot of money this year for United Way of Midlands and plan to set the bar even higher next year for this most worthy organization.

What To Wear

Recently Karen, an illustrator and good friend of mine and I discussed the need for really inspiring topic challenges so we decided to make up one of our own and challenge each other. It was a lot of fun and though we've both been very busy, I finally finished my illustration. Our topic was to imagine what the inside of a witch's wardrobe would look like and illustrate it. It should have a touch of scary- spookiness to it. Other than that, it was up to our artistic expression. What do you think?

SPOOKY TROUBLE

A combination for BCC First Friday October's "spooky" theme and Illustration Friday's theme "trouble."
Spooky? I'm not so sure because I caught them all smiling at me when they posed for their family portrait. Who can't remember the creaking of the stairs as Herman fed Spot the Tyrannosaurus Rex? Or Herman's infectous laugh? He and Grandpa were always getting into trouble and Lily and Marilyn would have to rescue them. Ok, so I am not THAT old but I did like the old reruns and watched them whenever I could. At the very least humor me and check them out here.
