What Are You?

Do you think from your Left Hemisphere or Right Hemisphere? I'm both but favor my right hemisphere. In my field of work I find this a very useful tip:

Relieve stress by understanding which brain hemisphere is stressed.
If you feel depressed or emotionally overwrought, your stress is in the right hemisphere--the creative, emotional, holistic side.
What to do: Switch to your matter-of-fact left hemisphere by doing math, writing factual prose or organizing. The emotional right brain will calm down.
If you feel time-stressed and overburdened, the left hemisphere is involved. Switch your right brain by singing or playing a sport.

It actually works, why not give it a try!

Oh it makes me crazy when I can't post new artwork! I have several pieces in the works however I won't post them until they're finished and I have such a fun idea for Illustration Friday's "communication." All projects were put on hold as we were away all weekend in Springfield, MO visiting family. Thankfully we arrived home safely as the forecast was for 10 inches of snow and I think we got about 5 here.

The Richness of Life

My mind has been moving in new directions this year and I am very excited about what 2007 holds. As an illustrator and designer I draw much of my inspiration by the beauty around me and from my fellow artists many of them on Flickr. The two redtailed hawks are one of my favorite birds, just keepin' and eye on things for me. Originally uploaded by !a.k.a. Maggie!

Happy 2nd Birthday Continued!

Last Friday was A Latte A Day's 2nd Year Anniversary and I couldn't go without posting an illustration for it. I have had this illustration in my mind (actually I woke up with the idea one morning) but hadn't had time to create it and finally-it's finished! So here it is, drum roll please....

It's also just in time for Easter too! I'm really pleased with the way this turned out and have so many more ideas cookin' on the stove. It's a great year and I am so looking forward to continuing on my creative journey with a new vision.

I apologize once again for putting copyright information on my images. My work is being posted all over the internet and it really makes me crazy when people post my work on their websites without my permission. Quotes

I am a passionate collector of quotes and include them on my personal and business emails, on my websites and in my artwork. Today I don't have a piece of artwork to share however I would like to share these thoughts with you, thoughts I believe in living by:

Sincerity~

“To give real service you must add something which cannot be bought or measured with money, and that is sincerity and integrity.” ~ Douglas Adams

“Sincerity and truth are the basis of every virtue.” ~Confucius

“The only guide to man is his conscience; the only shield to his memory is the rectitude and sincerity of his actions. It is very imprudent to walk through life without this shield, because we are so often mocked by the failure of our hopes and the upsetting of our calculations; but with this shield, however the fates may play, we march always in the ranks of honor.” ~Winston Churchill

Things

I'VE BEEN TAGGED by Sherry and I have to write 6 weird things about myself: It's taken me a couple of days to think about 6 wierd things about myself but I've only come up 6. Sorry Sherry, I am slower than mud...

1. At the age of 5 I had a police record. Old Lady Hansen (she lived behind us) called the police because I picked the flowers out of her lily pond for my Mother. The police came to our door to investigate and I was having a nap. :)

2. After I visit someone's blog for the first time and view the main page I visit the archives. I always visit JULY first. I was born in July and am compelled each and every time to visit that month first- even if I want to select a different month, it has to wait until I've seen July's entries.

3. I detest going to the mail box to pick up the mail. I can count on one hand how many times I have gone out to the mailbox in the last year. The only time I look forward to getting the mail is on my birthday and at Christmas and still, my husband or the children get the mail. Don't get me wrong, I love mail, I just don't like going to the mailbox.

4. I don't allow anyone to open the mail before dinner, I feel like it spoils dinner because most of it is generally bills, bills and more bills. Oh and the junk mail, did you ever see so much???

5. I have to have flaxseed and fresh blueberries on my cereal every morning for breakfast. If either is out I feel like I am not getting my health fix. I eat flaxseed on toast with peanut butter and honey (mix half ground with half who flaxseed), yum!

6. When I fold bath towels and wash cloths they all have to be folded evenly and in the the exact same way and stacked the exact same way, I then color code them. I also fold t-shirts in a certain way and taught my children how to fold them the same way too.

Oh, who shall I tag? I think I will tag:

Kim

Holly

Michelle

Jules

Felicity

Traci

Each person who gets tagged needs to write a blog post of their own 6 weird things as well as clearly state this rule. After you state your 6 weird things, you need to choose 6 people to be tagged and list their names.Don’t forget to leave a comment that says “you’re tagged” in their comments and tell them to read your blog for information as to what it means."That means you may find a short message from me at any time soon in your comments...

Happy 2nd Birthday!

Today marks the day of A Latte A Day's 2nd year anniversary! Unbelievable how time flies when you are having so much fun! I want to thank each and every one of you for taking the time to visit and post so many warm and wonderful comments about my work, you are the inspiration in my day and your support means more than I could ever say.

I'll post more on this later- I was made to switch over to the new Blogger today under much duress, I've heard people are having problems with it...and it is very late so I am calling it a day. Check back soon won't you?
