Have You Seen?

Laura,

Remember I said I wanted to be a butterfly on a flower at your daughter's wedding? I've found the perfect dress! Incredible isn't it? Dress by Luly Yang Couture in Seattle with the perfect slingbacks, photograph taken by velogirl. Ok, so it might be a bit flashy for the wedding but I'll be in camoflague won't I? :)

Visit Lauralines for all the wedding details.

P.S. I can promise you'll be reluctant to leave her site once you see her beautiful illustrations and watercolors.

Illustration Friday's - Cars

Riding in cars. I'm not crazy about riding in the back seat of a car with anyone. I get a closed in feeling and I don't like it but I can do it. If the car is large and roomy I don't have a problem with it at all. I just like a lot of window to look out of.

This was a quick sketch I did of Steven, our driver when we went to Kansas City on business a few weeks ago. My hand was a bit shaky; trying to draw in the back seat of a car is no easy feat.

Busy Spring

We have been SO busy these past 4 weeks with hardly a moment to post a thing. A short list of things I will be blogging about:

  • MM (My Man, Maggie's Man, Mr. Man) and I took an inpromptu trip to a spectacular place in the USA a couple of weekends ago and I'll post photos or better yet, illustrations of our trip as time permits.
  • I FINALLY finished the master bedroom curtains and will post photos. Finally!
  • I've almost finished a spring illo however at this rate it might just be summer before I post it. ;(
  • MM and I planned and threw a party for his mother's 80th birthday which was a smashing success. Can I still say smashing? I love that word. Photos to follow.
  • Our youngest son went to his senior prom, he is just so handsome and we are so proud of him. He graduates in June!
  • We went out and bought some flowers and didn't even put a dent in our new flower beds. It will definitely be a work in progress.
  • So much more going on in between all this including working full time...Phew. I am bushed!
  • Today I picked and cut stalks and stalks of rhubarb from our garden and still have more to cut and clean. I don't know much about moving rhubarb but need to to make room for our lovely new Hydrangea. I love rhubard and strawberry crumble. Does anyone have any great rhubarb recipes they would like to share?
  • I plan to try drying some of our Hydrangea this year if it does well and found a link here and here. I think I should ask Kim who sent me a beautiful box of dried Hydrangeas last year which are proudly displayed in my home. The colors are just so rich and vivid! Thank you Kim, I love them!

Signs of Spring

I absolutely love flowers, especially irises and they are all a bloom in our gardens now. Several of these irises are from my grandmother's garden. Sadly she passed away 8 years ago at the age of 83. I miss her so much but am greatful that she passed on her love of flowers to me. My sister-in-law had some irises from Grandma that she planted in her gardens in Florida. One day I received a package of my grandmother's iris bulbs from my SIL in the mail-I was just so tickled to receive them. My Grandmother had given me many varieties but we moved so many times in the past few years, I couldn't get them to survive the moves. Thank you Nelda Jane, I love ya girl!
Oh, how I love spring!

P.S. I have a Spring illustration in the works...check back soon!

Happy Mother's Day Mom!

I am so fortunate to be blessed with the most wonderful mother in the whole world. She has been an endless source of beauty, creativity, support and encouragement throughout my entire life. She is so caring and gives so much of herself and her time, not to mention she is an amazing cook. My greatest example of a woman has always been my mother.

Today is all about you Mom and I thank God that I am so truly blessed to be your daughter. I wish I could be there to spend this day with you and celebrate with you and Dad today. You are always in my thoughts and prayers and I'll be home in 3 weeks! XOXOXOX

Tornado Weather?

Here I sit at 9:00am CST and it is a black as night in the Midwest. Looks like tornado weather. I was off to the gym but have decided to stay close to home-just in case I need to take cover. I thought it was going to be 81 degrees and sunny today.

Looks like our weather man was mistaken...and not for the first time!

Just in: a tornado wiped out a town, Greensburg, Kansas, 110 miles west of Wichita. The tornado was 3/4 of a mile wide. How tragic for this town and it's people.

I'll just stay here and be on my gaurd.
