Big O' Blizzard

The biggest blizzard this year hits Nebraska. At 5:25am I woke to the sound of thunder and a blizzard. Freakish. I am so sad for those who encountered tornados and the loss of lives across the U.S today, just devastating.

Where we live we were hit pretty hard by the snow and blizzard, many of the interstates were closed or sections of, but I still decide to take my chances and head into work. Visibility due to the white out and blizzard conditions was a car length ahead at times and the snow so deep you had to have a four-wheel drive to get through it. Luckily we did and my husband, the sweetheart that he is, drove me to work (albeit later that morning) and picked me up later that day. A small crew of us showed up to keep our corporate East office running, however a handful of our 60 locations across the U.S. closed due to the snow storm. What a dedicated team! We left early and several of our group had to get towed, dug or pushed out of the parking lot the snow was so deep. Therer were so many stuck vehicles, jack-knifed tractor trailers and accidents it was difficult to traverse through the streets without running into traffic jams. We got a good 16-18 inches here at home. We are suppose to get more snow tomorrow but as long as we don't have blowing and drifting we should be alright. We are so thankful for our blessings. Missin' California warm weather right now-this is when we wish we were still living there!

I was out on the roads today as well....so many stranded vehicles...no visibility....scary! Nothing like a good ol' Nebraska blizzard!

I remember we had a blizzard here one year -- it was about a three-footer -- and there was thunder and lightening as it started. Freakish is the right word! All that lightening reflected through those snowflakes was totally blinding! Good for you for managing to get to work, but I hope you got to get out in the snow and play a little bit, too!
